Google looks to be all set to join Motorola, Apple and LeEco in ditching the headphone jack from their smartphones.
A new unconfirmed rumour, based on "an internal Google document" is claiming that the upcoming Pixel 2 will come without a 3.5mm headphone jack. The nature of the document has not been revealed as apparently it would put the source of the leak at risk.
9to5Google, who chanced upon the document, claims that the language used in the document presents the removal of the headphone jack as a matter of fact and not just a consideration.
We have to take into account that these are all unconfirmed facts and it is very possible that the Google Pixel 2 does come with a headphone jack in the end.
However, it will be extremely ironic if they do drop it as Google made quite the fun of Apple's decision to drop the essential jack at the Pixel's launch event in 2016.
Last week, we saw rumours indicating that the successor to the Pixel will come with key improvements in major areas such as the processor and camera and will remain a premium device.
