Sony has a bunch of smartphone launches planned for this year’s IFA expo to be held in Berlin from September 1 to 6. The company will unveil three new devices if the recent rumors and leaks are anything to go by. Details about the three devices dubbed as the Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Xperia X1 have surfaced online.
As expected, the new smartphones will take Sony’s new Xperia XZ lineup forward. According to a website Review.ge, the highlight of the smartphones will be the camera capabilities. Sony’s top-end smartphones are known to have superior camera sensors and performance, therefore the anticipation that the cameras will be in focus in the new lineup is not very surprising. While Sony Xperia XZ1 will most likely be the second flagship of 2017, the other two devices will be more of budget offerings.

- The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, as the name suggests, will be a smaller version of the Xperia XZ1. The device will come with a smaller 4.6-inch full HD display. - Sony Xperia X1
- The Sony Xperia X1 will feature a 5-inch full HD display. The key difference in the device is the mid-range focused Snapdragon 660 processor. The RAM at 4GB is the same as that of Xperia XZ1 Compact and the battery capacity too remains unchanged at 2,800mAh.
Coming to the camera in all three smartphones, Sony is expected to announce a new technology known as “full pixel continuous and shoot.” It is unclear what exactly will be the function of the new technology but it is most likely to be some form of high pixel continuous shooting. On the specifications front, rumors suggest that the phones may sport the same 19-megapixel camera housed in Sony Xperia XZ Premium, though Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia X1 might lower the resolution.
Sony had launched the Xperia XZ series in the second half of 2016 and since then, the Xperia XZ series has been expanded with devices such as the Xperia XZs, Xperia XZ Compact, and Xperia XZ Premium. Sony is also expected to launch the Sony Xperia X Ultra, a phablet with a 6.4-inch display with 21:9 aspect ratio. The launch date of the device is unknown though it is pegged to be before IFA 2017.
