OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has already revealed that the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T smartphones will receive Android O. It has also been confirmed that OnePlus 5 will also get the same OS platform this year. But the company did not reveal what happens to the OnePlus 3 and the 3T after Android O, until now.
In a forum post, OnePlus has revealed that Android O will be the last major OS update for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. However, the Chinese tech firm won't be leaving the handset buyers in the dark as it will be rolling out security patches for the 'foreseeable future'. Individual application updates will also be rolled out. "After the OP3/3T have been updated to Android O, we'll start moving the Open Beta Program from OP3/3T to OP5," the company added.

OnePlus declaring Android O as the last major update may infuriate users as the OnePlus 3 is one year old and the OnePlus 3T is around six months old. Generally, tech giants make a couple of major Android OS updates available for their flagship smartphones. Google itself has two years limit for Android updates for its own Nexus devices, after which it provides only security updates.
Talking of updates, OnePlus couple of days ago started distributing OxygenOS 4.5.8 for its OnePlus 5 smartphones. The company recently rolled out its OxygenOS 4.5.7 to users. That particular OS version, however, came with a bug that didn't allow users to play games on OnePlus 5. As a result, the company pulled up the OS versions and said it will solve the issue in the v4.5.8.
The OxygenOS v4.5.8 comes with the same features and upgrades that were introduced in the v4.5.7. However, the bug that created issues while playing games on the OnePlus 5, has been solved.
