Technology giant Google has reportedly started adding 'video previews' to user's search results. These videos will appear on top of search results and will begin playing automatically, but with sound muted.
The same report also says that the feature by Google will be rolling out to Android devices. So, when users will search on Chrome or on Google's app, they will be able to see these auto-playing videos.
The roll-out of the feature will be done in phases. First, these videos in search results will appear to users in English and only inside US. However, eventually the feature will be available in all languages globally.
There are also reports that Google would expand its new feature to desktop and iOS too.
With 'video previews', Google wants to make it easier for its users to know what's inside video clips that appear on search results. That way, they don't have to rely on the title and thumbnail clip of the video, and can really know if they are interested in watching further or not.
Additionally, these videos will only start playing automatically when the user is browsing the internet on Wi-Fi, so you don't have to worry about your mobile data getting used up. And if one doesn't find the feature very useful, they'll have an option in Google app to turn it off.
Recently, Google was also in news for testing a lighter version of its Search app. According to reports, Google is testing its Search Lite in Indonesia. The app will be making it faster to search content even in slow networks. The app is also said to come with some offline features. What remains to be seen is if the app weighs less or not. However, based on the nature of the app, it in all likeliness should weigh less and take less RAM to operate.
