While the Apple iPhone X is yet to reach the hands of customers, KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has released a new research note talking about the next year's iPhone models. According to 9to5Mac the note says that the rumored TouchID function embedded in the display, may not show up in the upcoming handsets as Apple is likely to invest more in FaceID.
Kuo has mentioned that if the FaceID technology in the iPhone X gets a positive response from customers, Apple may bring the TrueDepth front-facing camera and Face ID functionality to all of its iPhone devices next year. Another reason to bring it to all the iPhone devices next year is reportedly the struggle Apple is facing with screen embedded TouchID.
The struggle is because of the 3D Touch module that takes the complete display, making the panel thicker and resulting in a reduced accuracy for the on-screen fingerprint sensor.
However, if FaceID doesn't get a good response from customers, Apple is said to direct its focus from FaceID to on-screen TouchID. This will force Apple to come with a solution to the issue mentioned above.
Pre-orders for iPhone X will start from October 27 in 55 countries, including India. It will hit the retail shelves starting November 3. Apple has priced the iPhone X, which comes in two storage variants 64GB and 256GB, at INR ₹89,000 onwards in India. This means that the 64GB variant of iPhone X will be priced at INR ₹89,000 while the 256GB variant is priced at INR ₹1,02,000.
At the time of the launch, among the three iPhones, iPhone X stole the spotlight with its bezel-less display and FaceID. Apple CEO Tim Cook called iPhone X "the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone."
