Facebook Messenger now has nearly 130 crore monthly active users. This means that almost 1.3 billion people are using Facebook Messenger every month. As per July 2016, there were one billion monthly active users. The numbers are confirmed by the company via a post.
"We've continued working hard to make Messenger the best it can be, introducing new masks, filters and reactions for video chat,... making our virtual personal assistant available in more places around the world," Facebook said in a post on Friday.
The company also posted, "We have rolled out 'Instant Games' more broadly and bringing 'Messenger Lite' to more countries. We also redesigned the Inbox so that all of your favourite features are front and centre making it easier to connect." The post further reads, "We are very grateful to each and every one of you in the Messenger community for Messenger to reach the people and businesses you care most about."
With this report coming in, it seems, Facebook Messenger is moving at par with WhatsApp which also has also recorded 1.3 billion monthly active users. Until July, WhatsApp messenger reportedly had 1 billion active users, while Facebook had nearly 2 billion monthly active users.
"We just announced our quarterly results and gave an update on our progress to bring the world closer together. Our community is now more than 2 billion people, including more than 1.3 billion people who use Facebook every day, " Zuckerberg wrote in his Facebook blog post in June.
Meanwhile WhatsApp in June noted, "We are excited and proud to share that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with their family and friends. Whether it's sharing personalised photos and videos, connecting through video calling, or keeping friends updated throughout the day with Status, communicating on WhatsApp has never been easier or more personal. We are humbled that so many people are using these new features to connect with one another in their own special way."
Facebook-owned Instagram has recorded nearly 700 million monthly users, out of which 200 million users its 'Stories' feature almost every day. On the other hand, Snapchat has recorded about 166 million daily active users, claim reports.
