Huawei is widely rumored to soon launch its Mate 10 phablet with the company's latest Kirin 970 processor onboard. In a new video teaser of the upcoming smartphone, the Chinese smartphone brand has taken a dig at Apple for the failure of iPhone X's FaceID during its demo at the recent Apple event. iPhone X is the Apple's top-of-the-line smartphone, launched to celebrate iPhones' tenth anniversary.
The video, which has been shared by Huawei Mobile on Facebook, takes a pot shot at Apple iPhone X's alleged failed FaceID demo on stage during the unveiling of the smartphone on October 12. The video by Huawei shows a clown face supposedly trying to unlock a smartphone using face recognition but is not able to do so as the technology fails to recognize the face. At Apple event, iPhone X FaceID is said to have failed to work at the first time when Apple's senior vice-president Craig Federighi tried to unlock it.
The caption of the video post says "Let's face it, facial recognition isn't for everyone," followed by the launch date, "Unlock the future with #TheRealAIPhone. 16.10.2017." The statement indirectly appears to claim that the AI technology is superior to what is being used in iPhone X.
This is not the first time that the Chinese tech giant has aimed at Apple. A few weeks ago, Huawei's CEO Richard Yu in an interview to Bloomberg said that the upcoming Mate 10 will be giving tough competition to the next-gen iPhone, which is now called as the iPhone X.
It was mentioned that Mate 10's improved charging speed, cameras, and other features will prove to be a competition for the new iPhone devices. "We will have an even more powerful product. The Mate 10, which has much longer battery life with a full-screen display, quicker changing speed, better-photographing capability and many other features that will help us compete with Apple," he told Bloomberg in an interview.
Huawei has already revealed October 16 as the launch date of its Mate 10. Previous rumors and leaks have pointed out that the upcoming Huawei Mate 10 could feature an edge-to-edge 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. This piece of information is confirmed by a recent tweet by the smartphone tipster @EvLeaks (Evan Blass) on Twitter.
