Rockstar Games is teasing a Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement for next week. Taking to Twitter, the developer posted an image with a red background not too dissimilar to artwork seen in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 with the date Thursday, September 11am ET [8:30pm IST] followed by the Rockstar Games website.

With little else to go by, speculation is rife that we could see a release date for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Previously Red Dead Redemption 2 was revealed to be delayed to 2018. Developer Rockstar announced the change in Red Dead Redemption 2's release date with a post on its website. It was earlier slated for a 2017 release.

"Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans," the post from Rockstar read.

Much like id Software's 'when its done' mentality, Rockstar felt Red Dead Redemption 2 wasn’t ready to ship yet.

"We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer," the post continued.

Assuming Rockstar stick to the Spring 2018 release window, we could see an actual Red Dead Redemption 2 release date. However given the company’s penchant for delays, we may just be witness to a trailer or announcement related to Red Dead Redemption 2’s protagonists, which were suggested to be three, similar to GTA V.
