Google has revealed the latest Android distribution data on its Android Developer website. According to the table, the newest OS version, 8.0 Oreo has not even reached 1% of all the Android devices in the world. The distribution numbers reveal that Android 8.0 Oreo has hit 0.3% of all the active Android devices. This is a slow growth considering the particular version started rolling out to all the users around the globe in late August this year.
It is worth adding that the OS version is limited to Nexus and Pixel devices only. None of the major OEMs have started rolling out the OS version to their devices. Even those running stock Android versions such as Nokia and Motorola smartphones have not yet received Android 8.0 Oreo.
Android 7.0 and 7.1 Nougat has seen a good rise as compared to last month. Last month Android 7.0 and 7.1 were 15.8% and 2.0% respectively. This month they are 17.6% and 3% respectively. Considering that Android runs on over 2 billion smartphones, a rise by a couple of percents also means thousands of devices. We see a jump in Nougat distribution mainly because of several smartphones getting the OS updates.
