Apple has released the second public beta version of iOS 11.2.5. The company has released the update just after one week of the first public beta. Users who have signed up for Apple's beta software program will receive the new version of iOS using an OTA update after installing the proper certificate.
The iOS 11.2.5 update indicates that the company is now focusing more on maintenance, bug fixes and security features. If you are still not a beta tester and want to become one then you can join the beta testing program by signing up on the Apple's beta testing website. Once you have done that then you will get access to beta versions of iOS, macOS, and tvOS.
Recently, it was reported that some users were experiencing the slow performance of their old iPhones. A Reddit user revealed the 'iPhone 6s battery fiasco' wherein the smartphone switched off even with 40% remaining battery. At that time, the company didn't thought that it's a widespread problem and it also offered the replacement to some of the users. Along with this, Apple also said that fix is coming in the form of a software update. When the iOS 10.2.1 was rolled out, the Cupertino-based tech firm said that the shutdowns were reduced on iPhone 6s by 80% and 70% on iPhone 6.
However, the company has now addressed the claims from an app company that says the maker of iPhones slows down the performance of older phones.
The blog Primate Labs, a company that makes an app for measuring the speed of an iPhone's processor, published data that appeared to show slower performance in the Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 models as they aged.
In an official statement, Apple told Reuters, "Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We've now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future."
