After announcing that Huawei's sub-brand Honor will make its budget smartphone, Honor 7X, in India, the company has made another announcement for two of its devices.
The company has confirmed that it is rolling out Android Oreo update for its high-end smartphone, the Honor 8 Pro. Honor India's Twitter handle has made announcement of this roll out by replying to a Twitter user who wanted to know when the Honor 8 Pro would get the face unlock feature.

As per the tweet, the roll out will be staggered and assured users that they will be getting it soon, if they haven't received the update yet. When we checked our unit, there was no update. As per several reports, the handset has started receiving the Android Oreo 8.0 update in UK, along with Honor 9.

For reference, the Honor 8 Pro was launched in India at Rs 29,999 in July, but recently received a price cut making its price Rs 25,999. The handset features a 5.7-inch QHD 2K display of 1440x2560 pixel resolution and runs Android 7.0 Nougat skinned with EMUI 5.1 OS. It is powered by Huawei's own Kirin 960 processor paired with 6GB RAM. The smartphone has 128GB of on-board storage and a microSD card support of up to 256GB. Backed by a 4,000mAh battery, the device has dual rear cameras of 12MP module and an 8MP front facing snapper. For connectivity, the smartphone comes with 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type C.

Interestingly, last month, Honor had confirmed that the Honor 8 will not be getting the Oreo update. The company said that the handset has 'hardware and software limitations' for which it is not giving Android 8.0 Oreo update to Honor 8. However, the company did confirm that the device will continue to get security patches nonetheless.
