Google made a self-driving bicycle for the people of Netherlands. In the spring of 2016, Google will introduce the self-driving bicycle in Amsterdam which is also known as the world’s premier cycling city.Google wants to make biking safer, smarter, and easier by applying self-driving technology to biking. This spring, Google is introducing the self-driving bicycle in Amsterdam, the world’s premier cycling city. The Dutch cycle more than any other nation in the world, almost 900 kilometres per year per person, amounting to over 15 billion. Is it “the biggest invention of the bicycle since the bicycle itself'”Google Nederland posted the YouTube video with a title ‘Introducing the self-driving bicycle in the Netherlands‘ and a description saying they are introducing the self-driving bicycle in Amsterdam, the world’s premier cycling city, in the Spring – to enable safe navigation. Mistaking it for real, many users on social media sites went on sharing the video. It went viral after it was shared on a Facebook page Calimero that shares viral, funny videos. The fact of the matter being, the video was simply an April fools prank. Although it was not mentioned in the video, the description of the video included a link to ‘making of’ video (second one in this article) that clearly suggests the Google’s self-driving bicycle video is a hoax. In the two pictures above as well, you can see a couple of pictures from the ‘making of’ video that suggests the video was actually made using Computer-generated imagery (CGI).The Dutch cycle more than any other nation in the world: Almost 900 kilometres per year per person, amounting to over 15 billion kilometres annually. The self-driving bicycle enables safe navigation through the city for Amsterdam residents and furthers Google’s ambition to improve urban mobility with technology.Google Netherlands takes enormous pride in the fact that a Dutch team worked on this innovation that will have a great impact in their home country.
