OnePlus, in the launch event of the OnePlus 5T announced that it will be rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo as a part of beta OS version soon. It said that both OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T will be receiving the new OS version in open beta.
Although the company did not reveal the exact date when the two smartphones will be getting the OS version, it said that OnePlus 5T will get Android O in early next month. OnePlus 5 will be receiving the OS version later this month.
As for the final OTA version of Android 8.0 Oreo, OnePlus says the version will be arriving in "early 2018" without mentioning the exact date. The new operating system version is likely to arrive as a part of a new OxygenOS version as well.
OnePlus has already announced that Android O will be the last major OS upgrade to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. However, the Chinese tech firm won't be leaving the handset buyers in a lurch as it will be rolling out security patches for the 'foreseeable future'. Individual application updates will also be rolled out.
OnePlus 5 is confirmed to get updates till Android P. Same is the case with the OnePlus 5T.
The new-launched OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs 32,999 for the 6GB RAM version and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB RAM variant. The handset will be available in India starting November 21 (4.30PM IST). This will for the Amazon Prime members.
Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the handset sports a 6.01-inch full HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device will be one of the first ones to get Android 8.0 Oreo.
Powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the smartphone like the OnePlus 5, comes in two variants based on 6GB RAM+ 64GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage capacities. The processor is coupled with Adreno 540 GPU.
OnePlus 5T boasts a 16MP Sony IMX398 sensor along with f/1.7 aperture. The secondary rear camera comes with a 20MP Sony IMX376K camera sensor with f/1.7 aperture and dual LED flash. At the front, there is a 16MP Sony IMX 371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Backing the device is a 3300mAh battery along with the support for Dash charging tech. The smartphone also features Face unlock security tech, which is said to unlock the device in 0.4 seconds.
